The Guided Christian Home Schooling Classroom

This program combines the benefits of home schooling with part-time classroom instruction from a skilled and experienced, licensed special education teacher. This program is designed for students 8 – 14 years old (other ages accepted by permission of the teacher) and students with special needs are accepted depending on their level of need.

Curriculum is chosen based on the student’s learning style and ability level and instruction is provided two days a week in a classroom of ten students or less. An individual instructional plan is designed to maximize each student’s learning. Through instruction incorporating interactive, hands-on, multi-sensory teaching methods (influenced by Charlotte Mason) each child is given the opportunity to achieve their academic potential. Assignments will be sent home to cover the school days when the student is home schooled.

Class meets Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 – 3:00 at S. Clackamas Community Church (the old Yoder School), 8950 S. Schneider Rd., Canby, OR.

Jo Edwards holds both BA and MS Ed. degrees in special education and is a licensed teacher. Her training includes classes in autism, education of the hearing impaired and Orton-Gillingham instruction for students with dyslexia and learning disabilities. In addition to home schooling her children through high school, she has taught special education in public schools and small Christian schools for a total of 20 years. Her specialty is teaching in a multi-age classroom that includes students with special needs. Her mission is to provide an individualized, prescriptive education for Christian families with students who have special needs.

School will begin Monday, September 9th, 2013 and end Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
Cost:
$250 book/material fee
$250 monthly tuition for 2 days/week of instruction per month, September – May.

Parent Testimonials:
“Our son is so happy in this program! He is learning at his own pace with a curriculum that makes sense.”
“When the public schools were unable to meet our child’s needs, this program developed a curriculum and provided a learning environment that has helped our student advance 2 to 3 grade levels.”
