Hi, my name is Brenda. I’m married to my wonderful hubby (19  years, woot!), and we have 3 teenage sons and 2 daughters. Our oldest son was born at 26 weeks gestation, 1 lb 12 oz. I had a difficult pregnancy with our second son, and he was born only 1 month early after bed rest and many medical interventions. We had miscarriages and also lost our second son’s twin early in the pregnancy. Through different scenarios, God gave us the privilege of adopting 3 more children after those difficult pregnancies. In our home, we have kids (no names or specifics here) with: learning disabilities like dyslexia & more, big mood swings & attachment issues.  It isn’t always pretty, but God helps us through each day! I haven’t always homeschooled all of our kids, due to the above mentioned “issues”. Some of our kids have been in classrooms at private a homeschool supplement program, have worked with a private tutor, have been at a local charter school, and one of our kids even went to full time public school for a few months. This year, we are homeschooling all 5 kids, and participating in a Classical Conversations community, for our second year! I feel blessed to have the opportunity to homeschool. This is already a challenging year (because of the things mentioned above, and also because of the grades I’m teaching: 11, 10, 9, 6 & 3), but I trust that God will bring us through it and teach us many great things.

I’m writing this blog because God made me a writer, and I have to be writing. I love sharing homeschooling information, tips and activities with others. This is my sanity break during the week, and I really hope it blesses you as much as it blesses me. 🙂
